Boka.
English · Bahasa Malaysia · 中文 · Cantonese

Your business never misses a call again.

Boka answers your phone and WhatsApp in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin, books the appointment or table straight into your calendar, and remembers every customer who calls. It works at 9pm, on Sundays, and while your team is already with someone.

Restaurants · Cafés · Salons · Clinics · Workshops · Studios — anywhere customers ring to book.

What you get

One assistant, three jobs.

01

Answers the phone

Every inbound call, in four languages, booked into your calendar before the caller hangs up. On the number your customers already have.

02

Answers WhatsApp

The same assistant with the same memory, on the number people already message you. Enquiries, bookings and confirmations in chat.

03

Chases what you never get round to

Reminders the day before, no-show win-backs, DuitNow requests. The follow-up work a front desk never has time for after a full day of walk-ins.

The cost of a ring-out

Every missed call is a customer who books somewhere else.

38%
of calls to a small business reach a person
85%
of the callers who don't will never try again
62%
ring a competitor instead

Answer rate: 411 Locals, 2024 — 85 businesses across 58 industries, measured over 30 days. Callback and competitor figures: PATLive. Both are US studies; we haven't found a Malaysian equivalent, and we'd rather cite someone else's numbers plainly than invent local ones.

Who it's for

It already knows your trade.

Dental & aesthetic clinics

Scaling, whitening, braces consults. Quotes the consult fee but never the treatment, and never answers a clinical question — that becomes a message for the dentist.

Restaurants & cafés

Table for four at eight, large-group enquiries, halal and allergen questions, festive set menus. Holds the booking against your real floor plan, not a guess.

Salons & barbers

Which stylist, how long it takes, what a walk-in wait looks like right now. Rebooks the regular who comes in every six weeks before she forgets to call.

Workshops & car service

Service intervals, whether the part is in, how long the car will be off the road. Books the bay rather than just the day.

Physio, chiro & wellness

First visits run longer than follow-ups, and it books the right length. Answers package-balance questions without your therapist stopping mid-session.

Tuition & enrichment

Parents ring between 7 and 10pm, after your office has gone home. Which level, which day, and a trial slot on the calendar before they call the centre down the road.

Setup

Live by the end of the afternoon.

  1. 01

    Forward your number

Keep the number your customers already know. Forward it when you're busy, after hours, or all the time — your choice.

  2. 02

    Connect your calendar

Boka reads your real availability before it offers anyone a time, so it can't double-book you.

  3. 03

    Tell it how you work

Opening hours, what you offer, what to say about pricing, when to take a message instead. Plain English, no scripts to write.

The unfair advantage

Things a front desk can't do.

Never busy, never at lunch

Picks up on the second ring whether it's one caller or fifty at once, on a Sunday, on Raya, at 3am. Your best receptionist can hold one line at a time.

Books straight into your calendar

Checks real availability before offering a time, confirms it back to the caller, and writes it into Google Calendar before they hang up.

Speaks the way your customers do

English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Cantonese — including switching mid-sentence, which is how people actually talk here.

Remembers your three-thousandth caller

Greets returning customers by name with their last visit already in mind. No human remembers that far back, and no handover note survives it.

Answers WhatsApp on the same number

The same assistant with the same memory, on the channel most of your customers already prefer. No second inbox for your team to watch.

Shows you every call

Every conversation transcribed and summarised — including the ones your team takes over. You see your whole front line instead of it vanishing into the air.

Everything it does

The whole list, including what isn't ready.

Anything marked planned is on the roadmap and not built yet. We'd rather you found that out here than three weeks into a pilot.

Trust and compliance

Built to clear a clinic's compliance review, which is the hardest room.

  • Recording notice announced automatically
  • Recording can be switched off entirely
  • Data stored in Malaysia or Singapore
  • Encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Automatic recording deletion on a schedule
  • Your data is never used to train public models
Why local matters

Built for Malaysia, not adapted for it.

Manglish is the default, not an edge case

Tools trained on American English fumble a caller who opens in English, switches to Malay for the time, and drops in a Cantonese word on the way out. That's just how a Tuesday sounds here.

PDPA 2010 is designed in, not bolted on

Recordings encrypted at rest and kept in Malaysia or Singapore. Consent announced at the top of every call. Built to survive a clinic's compliance review, because that's the hardest room.

Built in Kuala Lumpur

Not a US product with a local reseller. Same timezone as your front desk, so when something breaks at 9am on a Monday there's someone awake to answer for it.

The rails Malaysians actually use

Google Calendar, WhatsApp Business, DuitNow and FPX. Not PayNow — that's Singapore, and a vendor who offers it here has never looked at the market.

Ninety seconds

Listen in on a real call.

A customer rings after hours, switches to Malay halfway through, and walks away with a booking. Nobody at the business touched a thing.

The other option

Or you could wire it up yourself.

You genuinely can. The parts are available to anyone, and if you have an engineer with a free fortnight it's a reasonable thing to do. Here's what you take on when you do.

The cheap plan isn't the bill

A low platform fee usually means bring-your-own-keys: an OpenAI account, a voice provider, a SIP trunk, each invoicing you separately in a currency that isn't ringgit. Ours is one number, in ringgit, with the AI included.

Someone has to own the prompt

A caller asks something nobody scripted. On a self-serve platform that's your evening. Here it's ours — we tune it, and you hear about it in the monthly report.

Things quietly stop working

Calendar tokens expire, numbers get reassigned, a provider changes a model. On a DIY stack you find out when a customer tells you they couldn't book. We find out first.

Pricing

Cheaper than the calls you're losing.

A front-desk hire runs RM2,000–2,700 a month, closer to RM3,100 once EPF and SOCSO are in. Boka starts at RM40 a day — no annual leave, no MC, no EPF, no handover notes, no notice period.

Per location, per month, all in. No setup fee, no API keys to manage, no separate AI bill arriving from somewhere else. Extra minutes at RM1.20 — and a minute means a minute of conversation, not of ringing.

Before you ask

The questions everyone asks.

What happens when it can't answer something?

It stops rather than guesses. Anything outside what you've told it — a complaint, a question only your team can answer, an unusual request — either goes through to a person, if you've switched transfers on and someone is there, or becomes a message in the caller's own words. It never invents a price, a policy or an opening time.

Do I need a new phone number?

No. You keep the number your customers already know and forward it to Boka — all the time, after hours, or only when your line is busy. Nothing to reprint, nothing to re-advertise. Forwarding takes a few minutes with your telco.

Which languages does it handle?

English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Cantonese, including callers who switch mid-sentence. Before you commit, we'll set it up on your number so you can ring it and hear how it sounds on the languages your customers actually use.

Can it double-book me?

It reads your live calendar before offering any time, so it can only offer what's genuinely free, and it writes the booking back immediately. If your calendar is unreachable it takes a message instead of guessing at availability.

Where does my customer data go?

Stored in the region — Malaysia or Singapore — and encrypted at rest. Every call opens by telling the caller it's recorded, which is what PDPA requires. You can export or delete a customer's records on request.

What if I go over my minutes?

Extra minutes are RM1.20, billed as used — calls don't stop and nothing gets cut off mid-booking. If you're consistently over, moving up a tier is cheaper than the overage and we'll tell you when that's the case.

Why does this cost more than the DIY voice platforms?

Because their headline number usually isn't the bill. Bring-your-own-key pricing means you also open an OpenAI account, a voice provider account and a SIP trunk, and those invoice you separately. Ours is one figure in ringgit with the AI, the telephony and the tuning inside it. If you'd rather assemble it yourself and own the upkeep, those platforms are a genuinely reasonable choice — we're not for you, and that's fine.

Can I bring my own OpenAI or ElevenLabs key?

No, deliberately. We pick the models and voices, test them on Malaysian speech, and change them when something better appears — none of which works if the quality depends on a key we don't control. It's the trade you make for us owning the result.

Does it make outbound calls too?

Follow-ups, yes: appointment reminders, no-show win-backs, confirmations to people who already contacted you. Cold-call blasting to a purchased list, no. Malaysian DNC rules apply to outbound marketing, and that enforcement belongs in a dialer built for it, not bolted onto a receptionist.

Do you speak Tamil?

Not yet. Today it's English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Cantonese. Tamil is on the list and we'd rather add it once it holds up on a real call than claim it now — if it's what would decide this for you, tell us and it moves up the queue.

Try it on your own number.

We'll set Boka up for your business and you can ring it yourself. If it doesn't sound like someone you'd want answering your phone, no hard feelings.
